8. A Tuesday. Dec. 15. 1987 The Billings Gazette Daniel Irving Small Daniel Irving Small was in aviation, drawing and sketch Raymond A.

Miller Raymond A. Miller and operated Natrona Roofing in Casper, Chester A. Anderson PORT ANGELES, Wash. Chester A. Anderson, a retired automotive mechanic, was a World War II veteran and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Mr. Anderson, 80, died December 3 in Seattle, after a long illness. He was born in Osceo, a son of Albert and Carrie Olson Anderson. A former resident of Billings, he moved to Hamilton, in 1976 and to Port Angeles in 1980. Survivors include his wife, Eileen Babcock Anderson; a brother, Lloyd of San Diego, and a number of nieces and nephews.

At his request no services were held. Cremation has taken place. The Bleitz Funeral Home was in charge. Isadore L. Leischner PLEVNA Isadore "Izzy" L.

Leischner and his brother operated a service Station in Plevna until 1957 when he worked for Farmers Coop' Elevator and drove school bus, retiring in 1982. A former mayor, he enjoyed being with his family and grandchildren, hunting and fishing. An Army World War II veteran, he was a member of American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, and the Volunteer Fire Department. Mr. Leischner, 68, died Sunday in Miles City VA Hospital after a long illness.

Born in Plevna, a son of John and Bertha Leischner, he graduated from Plevna High School On June 20, 1948, he married Genevieve Greenlee in Plevna. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Clyde and John, and a daughter, Cheryl Draper, all of Miles City; four brothers, Ted of Checkerboard, and Clarence, Elmer and Harold, all of Billings; four sisters, Ida Fried of Billings, Florence Bechtold of Caledonia, Bernice Barney of and Esther Gruell of Butte; and six grandchildren. Prayer services will be at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home. Services will be at 2 p.m.

Wednesday in Emmanuel Evangelical Free Church with burial in Plevna Community Cemetery. Alden Ray Tupper Alden Ray Tupper started working for the Bureau of Reclamation branch office in Huron, S.D., in 1961, and transferred to Billings in 1982. He was active in the Boy Scouts, was a member of Montana Christian Evangelical Association; served as a director for the Dakota Bible College in Huron, S.D.; and was a charter member of Valley Christian Church in Billings. Mr. Tupper, 54, of 2039 Hewitt Drive, died Sunday in St.

Vincent Hospital after a long illness. He was born in Jennings, a son of Walter and Bertha Tupper. He was raised and educated in southwestern Louisiana, and graduated from Southwestern Louisiana Institute in 1957. He served in the Naval Reserve from 1957 to 1961, then attended Officer's Candidate School in Newport, R.I. On June 14, 1959, he married Billie Jo Smith in Lafayette, La.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, William and Paxton, both of Billings; a daughter, Mrs. Bret (Tasha) Jones of Vermillion, S.D.; his mother, of Welsh, a brother, Gordon Tupper of Greenville, a sister, Carolyn Harmon of Lake Charles, and two granddaughters. Services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Smith Downtown Chapel with burial Friday in Greenwood Cemetery, Jennings, La. Robert Rowe GREAT FALLS Robert W.

Rowe had worked at the W. P. Fuller Paint Co. for about 30 years, and after the company changed ownership about six years ago, he worked for the renamed Central Glass and Paint as a salesman. Mr.

Rowe, 57, died Dec. 8 in his home of natural causes. He was born in Denton and graduated from Denton High School and Rocky Mountain College in Billings. He was an Army veteran. In 1952, he married Peggy Lou Tyler in Bismarck, N.D.

Survivors include his wife; a son, David W. of Missoula; two daughters, Judy L. Rowe of Bozeman and Ka-thryn G. Walters of Delray Beach, a brother, Donald D. of Billings; a sister, Betty Brown of Lewis-town; his father, Trent W.

of Denton; and two grandchildren. Services were 11 a.m. Saturday in the Chapel of Chimes Funeral Home. Cremation has taken place. LOCAL DEATHS Raymond A.

Wally C. Heck, 83, Lewistown Nettie White Fox, 92, Hardin Isadora L. "Izzy" Leischner, 68, Plevna Thomas J. Tobacco 60, Hardin Viggo Andersen, 83, Sidney Donald Miller, 52, Fromberg Franklin Orr Baker SHERIDAN, Wyo. Franklin Orr Baker owned and operated Baker Auto Repair during World War II, then farmed on his father's homestead on Ash Creek until 1962.

He later lived in California and Oregon, and, after returning to Wyoming worked as a caretaker for the Wyoming Society for Crippled Children and Adults in Buffalo. He was a member of Cowboys for Christ and the Baptist Church. He had served as Sunday school superin-tendant at the Ranchester Community Church for four years and in 1951 was on the Sheridan College Board. Mr. Baker, 75, died Monday in the home of his daughter, Jodi, after a long illness.

He was born in Sheridan, a son of Frank H. and Mable Lupton Baker. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dema Baker. He later married Opal Smith Arbogast on July 12, 1974, in cross. They lived in California for five years and in Oregon for four years, returning to Sheridan in 1984.

Survivors include his wife; six daughters, Mary Jean Roush, Pat Roush and Jodi Smith, all of Sheridan, Beverly Vigil of Buffalo, Nancy Mclntyre of Ranchester and Shirley Allen of Dayton; three sons, Wayne and Larry, both of Laramie, and Dennis of Stone Mountain, four stepchildren, Doug Arbogast of Gulf Breeze, Colleen Smith of Pensa-cola, Clinton Arbogast of Manassas, and Clay Arbogast of Buffalo; 33 grandchildren; 22 greatgrandchildren; 25 step-grandchildren; and 17 step-great-grandchildren. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Champion Funeral Home with burial in Sheridan Municipal ing, and enjoyed hiking in the mountains, reading and working with computers. Mr. Small, 27, of 7320 Sumatra Place, died in his home Sunday.

He was born in Billings, a son of Lawrence F. and Elfie J. MR. SMALL Small. He graduated from Billings West High School and attended Eastern Montana College where he majored in science.

In 1981, during his freshman year, he received the CRC Press Freshman Chemistry Achievement Award. Survivors include his parents of 7320 Sumatra Place; his grandmother, Velma E. Ames of Carmel, Maine; a brother, Lawrence F. Small Jr. of 229 S.

12th and two sisters, Mrs. Russell (Kathleen Wiseman of 716 Aronson and Mrs. Larry (Linda Collins of Laurel. Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Mayflower Congregational United Chruch of Christ.

Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary had charge of cremation. Cause of death was a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Thomas Tobacco Jr. HARDIN Thomas C. Tobacco Jr.

did extensive evangelistic work with the Rev. Harold Carpenter throughout the Western United States and Canada, returning to the Hardin area in 1975. He also maintained a ranch on the upper Rotten Grass Creek near Lodge Grass. A Marine veteran of World War II, he served in the Pacific theater, Iwo Jima and Japan. Mr.

Tobacco, 60, died early Sunday morning of injuries received in a fire at the Court Hotel in Hardin. He was born in Crow Agency, a son of Tom Tobacco Sr. and Margaret Pickett. He was raised in Crow Agency and attended schools in Hardin. In 1947, he married Edna Driftwood.

Survivors include a daughter, Valabeth LaForge of Lodge Grass; his stepfather, Robert Yellowtail Sr. of Lodge Grass; a brother, Bernard Tobacco of Wyola; a sister, Mrs. Laura He Does It of SL Xavier; three half-sisters, Alice Tobacco and Carol White Clay, both of Crow Agency, and Anita Morin of Helena; two stepbrothers, David Plentyhoops and Hugh Plentyhoops, both of Lodge Grass; two stepsisters, Eloise White Clay of Hardin and Winnona Plentyhoops of Lodge Grass; and three grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Carpenter Pentecostal Church in Lodge Grass with burial in the Lodge Grass Cemetery.

Bullis Mortuary of Hardin is in charge. Wally C. Heck LEWISTOWN Wally C. Heck worked for John Deere Co. for 22 years, retiring in 1967 when he did carpentry work and refinished antique furniture.

During World War II, he worked in construction on the Aleutian Islands. He was trustee of Grace Baptist Church for 12 yars. Mr. Heck, 83, died Sunday morning in his home after a short illness. Born in Horning, Iowa, a son of Charles C.

and Gertrude R. Heck, he attended school in Horning. The family moved to Moore where he helped his father and area ranchers. He also worked in oil fields on Cat Creek and near Shelby. On Sept.

30, 1927, he married Ann I. Gilbreath in Lewistown. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, LaVonne Dalton of Seattle, Dolores Ray of Billings and Guyla Koehler of New York Mills, a brother, Rex S. of Pullman, 11 grandchldren; and 11 great-grandchilddren. Services will be at 2 p.m.

Friday in the Emmanuel Baptist Church with burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Creel-Morrison-Retz Funeral Home is in charge. Elmer W. Brush Elmer W. Brush worked as shop foreman for Consolidated Freight-ways, and as shop superintendent for Hi-Ball Trucking until retiring in 1971.

He enjoyed cutting horses, traveling and children. He was a member of Billings Saddle Club and horse manager for the NILE for 10 years. Mr. Brush, 78, of 806 S. 27th died Saturday evening in the Parkview Convalescent Center of natural causes.

Born in Dusty, a son of Nelson and Jeanette Brush, his family moved to Lambert where he attned-ed school. He lived in Washington, and worked on the Fort Peck Dam. On Nov. 2, 1948, he married Elizabeth H. Schutz in Billings.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Jim of San Ramon, a daughter, Mrs. Alert (Dorothy) Genatone of Carmel, two sisters, Ber-neice Brush of Billings and Florence McLaughlin of Salem, a brother, Harry of Alma, five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Smith Downtown Chapel with burial in Mountview Cemetery. i i and Idaho Falls Roofing in Idaho Falls, Idaho, before moving in 1955 to Billings where he operat-ed All State Roofing until retiring in 1965.

He loved reading and teaching the Bible and en joyed golfing, MR. MILLER fishing and being with his grandchildren. He was a member of Valley Christian Church and Elks Lodge. Mr. Miller, 74, of 1535 Burlington died Monday morning in St.

Vincent Hospital of natural causes. He was born in Lyons, a son of Charles and Alice Miller. On Jan. 27, 1940, he married Bonnie Simpson in Nevada. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Curt Lewis of Garland, Texas, and Chuck Miller of Bozeman; two daughters, Mrs.

Vic (Frances) Phillips and Mrs. Bud (Jeanette) Rei-chenbach, both of Billings; three sisters, Mrs. B.C. (Vera) Vannoy and Mrs. Hank (Irene) Spadt, both of Worland, and Mrs.

Lola Miller of Tucson, 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Smith West Chapel with burial in Mountview Cemetery. Jerry T. David SHERIDAN, Wyo.

Jerry T. David was a heavy equipment operator for Union Carbide Company and a member of the VFW and Eagles. Mr. David, 64, died Thursday in Sweetwater Memorial Hospital in Rock Springs of natural causes. He was born and educated in Sheridan, Wyo.

He served in the Navy during World War II and then in Korea. He lived in San Diego, until moving to Riverton in 1960. On Oct. 30, 1954, he married Helen Reznek in Yuma, Ariz. Survivors include his wife of Riverton; his mother, Audrey David of Chula Vista, four sons, Steve and Dan, both of Riverton, John of Chula Vista, and Davey of Arizona; three daughters, Sharon Paulson of Spanaway, Diane David of Colorado Springs, and Linda David of Arizona; two sisters, Jeanne Clark of Chula Vista, and Justine Hayes of Mesquite, Texas; and two grandchildren.

Interment Roberts Cemetery. tea Chapels Nettie White Fox HARDIN Nettie White Fox had lived in the Blacklodge district on the Crow Indian Reservation near Hardin and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and Crow Indian Tobacco Society. Mrs. White Fox, 92, died early Monday in Billings Deaconess Medical Center after a short illness. A daughter of White Clay on the Forehead and Fire, she was born at the junction of the Big Horn River and Yellowstone River, was raised along the Big Horn River near Hardin and attended the Old Crow Indian Boarding School in Crow Agency and the Carlisle Indian School in Carlisle, Pa.

In May 1918, she married George White Fox. He died in 1964. Survivors include three daughters, Elizabeth White Fox and Eleanor White Fox, both of Hardin, and Naomi White Fox of Toppinish, six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Dunmore Chapel with burial in the Crow Agency Cemetery.

There will be a concert by the choirs and bands on Dec. 22. Viggo Andersen SIDNEY Viggo Andersen and his wife farmed near Sidney until retiring to Sidney in 1965. He was active in REA, a committeeman for ASCS, affiliated with the Bureau of Reclamation and was a member of Moose Lodge. Mr.

Andersen, 83, died of natural causes Sunday in the Community Memorial Hospital Born in Hutchinson, a son of Marius and Helene Andersen, his family settled south of Sidney in 1912. On October 9, 1935, lie married Marjory Fredericksen in Savage. Survivors include his wife; a son, Marvin of Jamestown, N.D.; two daughters, Mrs. Marvin (Helene) Schmuck of Roosevelt, Utah, and Mrs. Dale (Beverly) Edam of Savage; a brother, Vernon of Sweet Home, a sister, Evangeline Hansen of Sidney; and nine grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Pella Lutheran Church with burial in Sidney Cemetery. Ful-kerson Funeral Home is in charge. Austin Leslie Slocomb BEACH, N.D. Austin Leslie Slocomb had worked as a custodian for the Sentinel Butte School for several years.

He was well known for his enthusiasm in flying airplanes and was a licensed private pilot. He was a member of a local flying club and enjoyed flying all his life. He was always interested in the good of the community, served on the Saddle Butte School Board and was a member of his local township board. In recent years, he was a member of the Beach Cemetery Board and the Evangelical Church of North America and served in many functions of the church. Mr.

Slocomb, 85, died Saturday in the Wibaux Nursing Home of natural causes. He was born in Neilsville, a son of Charles and Fredrica Slocomb. He attended school in Loyala, Wis. His mother died when he was seven, his father died when he was 11, and his elder sisters raised him. In 1915, he moved to the Beach area and worked in several states.

On Nov. 22, 1939, he married Martha Zeller, and they lived north of Beach until 1958 when they moved into Beach. Survivors include his wife of Glen-dive, Mont; two step-daughters, Mrs. George (Mary) Smith of Beach and Mrs. Marvin (Irma) Herrick of Lincoln, a step-son, Delbert Zeller of Dumas, Texas; 10 stepgrandchil-dren and 21 great-grandchildren.
