Glendive Man Dies at Bar Retired Fireman Dies at Glendive Hardin Matron's Funeral Planned HARDIN Funeral services State tiealth Board Asks Pay Increases HELENA un Pay increases ranging between $10 and $60 monthly for Montana Health Board employes were asked Monday. Dr. G. D.

Carlyle Thompson, executive health officer for the state, asked the Board of Examiners to approve the increases. They would cover 90 persons, or almost all employed by the department. 0 rancher. At Glendive School GLENDIVE Harvey Larson, principal of the Dawson County High School, announced 119 freshmen, 113 sophomores, 111 juniors and 86 seniors have en rolled at the high school for the coming year.

The enrollments are continu ing and are not expected to be completed until after the begin ning of school when usually a few students who have not previously registered will enroll. Anticipated enrollment for the 1997-58 school year is 185 fresh men, 150 sophomores, 135 juniors and 120 seniors, a total of ap proximately 600. Dues Are Unpaid GLENDIVE The Glendive Chamber of Commerce is behind $1,000 in dues, it was brought out at a meeting of the Chamber finance and membership commit tee. A lot of business and pro fessional people have not paid their dues yet this year, according to the minutes of the meeting. Committee members expressed the feeling that many people do not realize the benefits of Chamber support.

A one- day membership campaign in the near future was discussed to tie in with an autumn general membership meeting. leaves six sisters, Mrs. August Luedke, Mrs. Henry Ullman, Mrs. Paul Uttech and Mrs.

Larry Anderson of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada, officiating. Burial will be in the Dawson County Cemetery. Thompson." Dr. pronounced Sherven dead and instructed Stanley to notify authorities, Silvernale reported. Coroner Silvernale said an autopsy will be held. Mr. Sherven was born June 30, 1925, at Charlton, N.D., the son of Mr.

and Mrs. Andrew S. Sherven. He entered military service at the age of 18, being discharged in February of 1946. In 1943, he married Mildred Hagen at Sidney.

He was a veteran of both World War II and the Korean War. He is survived by his wife and four children, Terry, 10, Randy, 7, Melody, 3, and Cindy, 3 weeks; his mother, Mrs. Myrtle Naney of Watford City, N.D., a brother, Larry, of North Dakota. The body will be taken to Watford City, where funeral services will be held. Glendive Rites Set for Matron GLENDIVE Funeral services for Mrs.

Peter Evans, 73, of Glendive will be held at the Koch-Huebl-Silvernale Chapel with the Rev. Dean A. Rohner officiating. Burial will be in the Dawson County Cemetery. Mrs.

Evans died suddenly Thursday evening at the N.P. Hospital. She was born Dec. 10, 1883, at Manchester, S.D. She attended the Minneapolis High School and graduated from the teachers college at Valparaiso, Ind.

She came to Dawson county in 1910 and taught school in Dawson county and Glendive. She was married to Peter Evans and made her home in the Glendive area. She was a member of the Eastern Star, past president of the Glendive Woman's Club, past vice president of the Republican Women's Club and a member of the Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband; a daughter, Mrs. George C.

Irvine of San Diego, three granddaughters; two brothers, A. C. Paulson of Sidney and Dr. O. M.

Paulson of Seattle, and two sisters, Mrs. H. M. Orf ield of Minneapolis, Minn, and 'Mrs. H.

Grulke, retired Glendive city fireman, died in a local hospital, where he had been a patient for 11 days, following a severe heart attack. Mr. Grulke was born in Germany July 15, 1884, and after coming to the United States at an early age with his parents, settled in Wisconsin. On Jan. 30, 1905, in Leaf Valley, he married Minne Ullman.

He had lived in Glendive lince March, 1908. Mr. and Mrs. Grulke observed their golden wedding anniversary at the Congregational Church two years ago. He was a member of the Congregational Church, also a member of Glendive Lodge No.

31, AF AM, Damascus Com-mandery No. 4, Yellowstone Chapter No. 5, OES, of Gelndive. He was a charter member of Al Bedoo Shrine in Billings. He worked for the N.P.

Railroad several years, and also served on the City Council and worked on the Fire Department, from which he retired in 1951. Survivors are his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Edna George of Dickinson, N.D.; two sons, Clarence of Portland, Ore. and Ray W. of Glendive.

He is also survived by five granddaughters and four great-grandchildren. Neva Bouton, 66, who died Saturdav in the Bie Horn County Hospital after an extended illness with cancer. Burial will be in Custer Battlefield National Cemetery. Mrs. Bouton was born Sept. 23, 1890, in the daughter of Mr.

and Mrs. Richelieu Baldwin. She was married to Harry Bouton Aug. 16, 1922, in Springfield, Mo. and came to Big Horn county in 1929.

During World War II. the couDle lived in Bremerton, but re turned to Hardin afterward. Mrs. Bouton was a member of the First Methodist Church. served as past president of the Women's Society of Christian Service, and also took interest in the Youth Fellowship and Sunday school programs.

Surviving are her husband, two daughters, Mrs. LaNell Sheriff of Seattle. and Miss Lou ise Bouton of Billings; her moth er, Mrs. Karrie Baldwin oi war-din, and two grandchildren. Active nallbearers will be Lyle Atkins, Willis Fife, Arthur Keres, William Ousmus, Carl Moore and Clifford Smith.

The honorary nallbearers include Harold Nord- wall, Charles Weigand, Brice Sam- uelson and M. R. Calderwood. Rites Are Held At Big Timber BIG TIMBER Funeral serv ices for Mrs. Alice Mason, 73, wife of Howard Mason, were held at St.

Mark's Church here with the Rev. R. R. Price officiating. Organ music was by Mrs.

Frank Chase. Pallbearers were Roy Webber, Graham Woolsey, Arthur Michels, Harold McLaugh lin, Ira Decker and John Nicholson. Burial was in Mountain View Cemetery. Mrs. Mason was born June 27, 1884, in Stafford, England, the daughter of Mr.

and Mrs. Charles Richardson. She came to Montana in 1915 and was married to Howard Mason of McLeod in Big Timber. They were ranchers three miles west of McLeod until 1944 when they moved into town. Surviving besides the husband are a daughter, Mrs.

Wright Ewan of McLeod, and two grandchildren. Mrs. Mason was a Gold Star mother of the American Legion and was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church here. She was a member of St.

Mark's Guild and the vestry committee. She was also a member of the Boul der Valley Woman's Club. Mrs. Mason died of a sudden heart attack at the local hospital, following a short illness at her home. Contracts Awarded On State UCC Jobs HELENA (U.F9 The Montana Board of Examiners Monday awarded contracts for razing Unemployment Compensation Commission offices in Butte and Glendive which will be replaced by new structures.

O'Connell Construction Butte, with a low bid of $1,887, was awarded the contract for the Butte project. F. T. Reynolds Construction Glendive, was granted the Glendive contract on a bid of $1,695. The Glendive structure will not be torn down but will be moved to another location.
