WIMBLEDON, England Old age and fast tennis overtook Gardnar Mulloy, 39-year-old physical phenomenon from Coral Gables, Saturday in the fourth round of the Wimbledon championships. Frisky Kurt Nielsen, 23-year-old, happy-go-lucky from Copenhagen, whipped the veteran Florida lawyer, 10-8, 6-3, 7-5. Nielsen played the kind of fast, ground covering tennis that made Mulloy's years weigh heavy. The final point was a clear service ace which Mulloy could not reach in the boiling sunshine. But even with Mulloy's unexpected defeat, Uncle Sam sent two of his nephews and five of his nieces into the singles quarter finals, which will be contested Monday.

Great Falls timber swingers had a team batting average of .283 as of June 23, while Ogden was only a point behind with .282. The fact that the Reds were out front in the league race while Great Falls held second place could be explained by team fielding figures. The Redlegs led the league in this department with a .960 average while the Electrics trailed in sixth place with .944.

However, Great Falls' Oscar Sardinas continued to retain his position as the league's top batter wtih an average of .413. But Bob Ruck of the Boise Yankees, has slashed out the most home runs, nine, while Great Falls' Mike Wit-wicki led the larceny department with 19 stolen bases. Pitcher Reno Barbisan of Idaho Falls took honors in the hurling department with 11 wins to his credit, while the Russets' Earl Es-calante was dubbed the work horse of the league with 111 innings on the mound.
