Egge Our beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Carl J. Egge, passed into the Lord's kingdom on All Saints Day, Nov. 1, 1998, while in the loving care of St. John's Lutheran Home staff. Carl came into the world March 16, 1910, in Williston, N.D.

and the oldest of six children in the family of Simon and Aslaug Egge. He was baptized at First Lutheran Church, Williston, and confirmed in Bethania Lutheran Church, Zahl, N.D. He attended a country school until 1924, working the homestead after the death of his father. With his brother, he did electrical wiring across Montana, then joined the Hysham REA in 1941, retiring as manager after 34 years. On Dec.

22, 1940, Carl married Martha Dombrosky and they were charter members of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hysham. He was a charter member, first president and long-time treasurer of the Hysham Lions Club. Carl, a quietly humble and Christian man, never spoke of his accomplishments and self-acquired knowledge, but he shared generously with others. He served his church as treasurer for 40 years, the Hysham School Board, and the Treasure County TV District, supervising the installation of the television translator station. Carl (W7LZY) was issued his amateur radio license in 1931.

He was a member of the Ten-Ten International Net, Quarter Century Wireless Association, and the American Radio Relay League. Ham radio provided Carl with a lifelong avocation and large group of special friends. He was recognized for talking with hams in all 50 states during the Bicentennial Year and for teaching classes in code and basic theory to help others become active amateur radio operators. Carl was the consummate writer of letters and especially loved his grandson and his Hysham home with Martha. Saints who went on before Carl include his parents, two brothers: Olav Egge and infant Albert; and a sister Agnes Hoeft, his wife Martha in 1979, and wife Anne in 1994.

He leaves to lovingly remember him his daughter, Sharon Harris (Ed); grandson, Jordan of Billings; sister Evelyn Leirboe of Florida and brother Arthur Egge of Delaware, and many nieces, nephews, and ham friends. Time is too slow for those who wait, too swift for those who fear, too long for those who grieve, too short for those who rejoice, but for those who love, time is eternity.
