(gazette OBITUARIES 1 Wednesday, January 11, 2012 B5 Doris Christine Jones Cyril Not Afraid LODGE GRASS Cyril Not Afraid, 88, of Lodge Grass, passed to the other side camp, Jan. 8, 2012, in the Sheridan, VA Medical Center. He was bom Jan. 16, 1922, in Lodge Grass, a son of Eliza Bacchus and Joseph Not Afraid, a descendent of Medicine Tail-Old Man Not Afraid. He grew up and received his education in Lodge Grass.

Following his education, he entered the U. Army Air Corps and served in the South Pacific during WWII. He was one of three Crow code talkers in the Army. During Ms younger years, he became the first Crow Indian bull rider, participating in numerous rodeos. In later years, he enjoyed watching his families participate in riding and roping events, caring on a tradition passed to him by his father.

He was a cowboy at heart, but worked for the Holly Sugar Corporation for several campaigns, the Carpet Mill in Crow Agency and retired from the National Park Service in Fort Smith. Cyril married Flora Medicine Horse on Feb. 6, 1946, in Billings and the couple made their home in Lodge Grass. He was a member of the Greasy Mouth Clan, was a Big Lodge child, Council of Elders, 107th Committee and the American Legion. He was a strong believer in the Sweat Lodge Ceremony.

He loved the outdoors, especially when he could spend time on his well-kept yard. His wife, daughters Ly-nette Not Afraid and Pamela Stewart, sons Gary, Wayne-Cowboy, Dee and Starr Not Afraid sisters Irene Not Afraid and Florence Real Bird, brothers Edward, Leo, Cedric, Joseph and Starr Not Afraid Sr. preceded Cyril in death. Survivors include his sons, Leroy (Sheila), Willis, Marlin (Reva), Garland, (Isabelle) and CJ Not Afraid, Knute (Dar-lynn) and Newton (Georgette) Old Crow Robert (Tina) Stewart, Bemto (Marsha) Our dear, sweet mother and grandmother, Doris Christine Jones, 84, of Billings, passed away on Monday, Jan. 9, 2012, following a lengthy illness.

Doris was born in Chicago, to Christian and Dora on April 21, 1927. She spent her early years in Clintonville, and the remainder of her childhood in Glasgow, when her father went to work at Fort Peck Dam. She graduated from Glasgow High School in 1945. After graduation Doris continued her education in Santa Cruz, attending the Western Union School. She then worked for Western Union at Fort Lewis, when soldiers were returning from the South Pacific.

Doris married Leslie D. Jones on Aug. 19, 1951. They lived in Rupert, Idaho; Glasgow; and then Billings. Together they had five children.

She was a stay-at-home mother raising four sons and a daughter. She then worked for Colborn School Supply starting in 1974 until her retirement in 1984. She enjoyed crocheting, crafting, reading and working puzzles. Her children and grandcMldren loved the time she gave to them, whether it was playing word or board games, watching their sports or simply spending time with them and providing unconditional love. Doris was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and older brother, Clarence.

She is survived by her children, Terry (Cathie) of Shelton, Jerry of Clancy, David (Peg) of Centennial, Robert of Billings, Janet (Pat) Quinn of Andover, and brothers Roy (Barb) of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Howard (Gail) of Stevensville. She is also survived by her eight grandchildren, Angie (Stephen), Justin, Britteny, Chris, Trent, Logan, Sean, and great-grandchildren, Sienna and Brooklyn. Her nieces and nephews held a special place in her heart. She also treasured the friends she met along the way. Our mother will be remembered for her kind and generous natgre, sense of humor, sharp mind, and genuine love of her family.

Cremation has taken place. A private family graveside service will take place at Mountview Cemetery during the summer. Arrangements are by Cremation and Funeral Gallery. Condolences may be sent to the family through Our Families at www.cf-gbillings.com. Cy Bidwell BELLE FOURCHE, S.D.

Cy Bidwell, 69, of Belle Fourche, passed away at his home on Monday, Jan. 9, 2012, withhis family at Ms side. Frank Cyrus Bidwell was bom Aug. 4, 1942, in Broa-dus, to Frank and Nanie (Cain) BidwelL He graduated from Powder River County High School in 1960 and attended Miles Community College in Miles City. While growing up he worked with CY BIDWELL his father at the sawmill near Ashland.

Cy was owner operator of many businesses in Broadus: the Cashway grocery store, Park Mobil gas station, Powder River Lanes, The Golden Mug, and Pastime Theatre. He was also instrumental in getting the Broadus Golf Course started and ran the Pro Shop at the Country Club. For the past 25 years he has been President of Tru Catch Traps in Belle Fourche. Cy has been married to his loving wife, Dolly, for 50 years and has been a devoted husband and father. He played softball on the Broadus Sponsors Team and many rounds of golf with his friends.

He coached a bt of Little League baseball and football and enjoyed watching his children in their sporting events. He held the position of President of the Broadus Jay-cees, as well as serving at the State level for the Montana Jaycees. He was a member of the Belle Fourche Shriners, Chamber of Commerce, Economic Development Board and served as President at the Belle Fourche Country Chib. Cy enjoyed bowling, golf, and pool and always was there to have fun and make sure that everyone else did too. He never met a stranger he didnt like.

His lucky day was the day he made a Hole in One at the golf course and had 11 straight strikes at the bowling alley on the same day. Cy will be remembered for his enthusiasm and sincerity in everything he did in life whether it was work or play. He will be greatly missed by all his friends and family. Grateful for sharing in his life are his wife, Dolly (Schnei-dt) Bidwell of Belle Fourche; children, Vicky and (David) Black of Keller, Texas, Karen and (David) Dinkel of Powers Lake, N.D., Todd Bidwell and (Anna) of Belle Fourche, Barry and (Erica) Bidwell of Forsyth and Doug Bidwell of Belle Fourche; eight grandchildren; brother, Ronald Bidwell of Laurel; Mamie Denson of Douglas, and Myrtle Ridenour of Billings. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Nanie Bidwell There will be no visitation as his body was cremated.

A ceremonial tribute will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, at Kline Funeral Chapel in Belle Fourche with Pastor Andy Anderson officiating. A service of remembrance will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Jan.

13, at the Stevenson and Son Funeral Home in Broadus, with Pastor Don Bidwell officiating. The family suggests memorials to the charity of the donors choice. 7, 2012, my angel went to heaven to join extended family, friends and loved ones after a brave, long fight against cancer. David Cle-tus Schmidt, 53, was born May 31, 1958, to Walter Richard and Marie Cecile Schmidt in Huntington, N.Y. They moved to Billings in 1974, where he graduated from West High in 1976. He and his father actually started the first soccer league in Billings. When his family moved, he stayed in Billings.

He met Linda Betts in 1986. They were married on May 26, 1990. He was blessed with his loving Sleepy Dog and many nieces and nephews. Dave was a hard worker that gave his all to the job, from as a kid to Gambles, Coast to Coast, Small Engines and Billings Hardware Co. He had a passion for playing pool, loved soccer, model cars, playing games, family, friends and kids.

He was an active member and president of the F.O.E. and Moose. Special Oly had a place in his heart. He loved the parks and traveling. He especially loved traveling to Yellowstone Park, Ther-mopolis trips and the many cruises with his family.

He enjoyed dressing as Santa and seeing all the kids reactions. Many special nieces and nephews will remember him as their Santa on Christmas Eve. He is survived by his wife, Linda, parents Walt and Marie, sister Linda Lackner (son Kenny), brother Steven and Claire Schmidt, all of Florida; brother Keith Schmidt of Washington; sister Jennifer and Larry Stieglitz (Glenn and Gillian) of New York; Sandy and Curt Schlosser (Eugene, Austin and Kayla), LaDonna and Mark Grotbo (Brice and Kelby), and Kelly and Bart Heiken (Isabell). We will always love you and miss you forever. A very special thanks to Journey Hospice, Janand VernBrost, and many, many others.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, Jan. 14, at 2 p.m. at Smiths Downtown Chapel. A dinner and reception will follow at the Eagles Lodge in Billings Heights. Harvey Schake CHAMBERS, Neb.

Harvey Schake, 83, of Chambers, died Sunday, Jan. 8, 2012, at Avera McK-ennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m., with prayer service at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 11, at Biglins Mortuary in ONeill, Neb. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m.

Thursday, Jan. 12, at Bethany Presbyterian Church in rural Ewing, Neb. Burial will be at Chambers Cemetery. RON WILSON Ronald Wilson Ron left this world peacefully and pain free surrounded by his family and friends. Do not let your hearts be troubled.

In my Fathers house there are many dwelling places. I am going to prepare a place for you. John He was born Nov. 20, 1947, in Rangely, Colo. Raised in Wolf Point, he became very well known at the age of 8 for singing on the radio.

Throughout his life he continued to sing and love the message of music. He and his bandmates, in Country Express, remained close and continued to reunite for performances in later years. Ron graduated from Wolf Point High School, where he held a track record for over a decade. After graduation he spent a few years working on oil rigs throughout the western U.S. He returned to Wolf Point, following in his fathers footsteps, beginning his career in law enforcement.

His career extended from Wolf Point, Colstrip, Columbus, and then 20-plus years with Yellowstone County Sheriffs Department. Throughout his career he attained the position of Roosevelt County Undersheriff and graduated from the FBI National Academy in the summer of 1994. He started in patrol, advancing to Sergeant, then Lieutenant, Chief of Detectives. In April of 2011, he was nominated by Sgt. Sam Bofto and fellow detectives, which resulted in receiving Officer of the Year.

Ron played major roles in cases that impacted the community. He took his public service to heart. Ron had a life-long love of nature and the outdoors. He incorporated both with his love of his family. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and boating.

Treasured times were fishing on Fort Peck, Canyon Ferry and the Tongue River. He loved Montana, its treasures, history and geography. He loved to share his experiences and vast knowledge. Most recently Ron enjoyed traveling with his family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Betty and Her-shel; his sister Ginger; and his beloved Scottie, Haylee.

He is survived by his wife, Terri; his children, Natalie (Tim), Nicole (Steve), Brenda (Tod), Jeff (Joani), Alan, Tracy (Gina); beloved nephew, Ron (Amanda); and grandchildren, Brandon, Triston, Monica, Tyler, Alex, Thomas, Cameron, Kolbie, Allison and Gracyn. He will be missed by family and many friends, especially Jimmy Jensen (the "Real Santa) and Seth Weston. Services will be 2 p.m. Friday the 13th at Smiths West Chapel, 304 34th St. W.
